The Grand Palace complex was established in 1782 and was a former residence for King Rama I to King Rama V of the Rattanakosin Kingdom. Today, the place is used for hosting royal ceremonies and welcoming the king's guests, State guests, and other foreign dignitaries. It is also a place where remains of kings and high-ranked members of the royal family were situated before cremation

Phra Mandop is the palace library that contains the most sacred scriptures of the Buddhist literature. The library is not accessible by tourists. However, the striking building gathers attention like none other.

The building façade is golden in colour. White, green and red inlay tiles with gold medallions cover the whole building. There are demon statues at the entrance with embellishments of intricate mosaic glasswork

This building, a vihara, serves as a Buddha image hall, and was first built by Rama III to house many important Buddha images. The building has a cruciform plan and is topped in the middle of the roof with a tall spire in the form of a crown.

The Phra Si Rattana Chedi

The Phra Si Rattana Chedi

Constructed in 1855, the circular bell-shaped stupa (or chedi) is built of brick masonry. The stupa was later entirely covered in gold-coloured tiles specially imported from Italy by Rama V.

The main Stupa was erected by King Rama IV in 1855 and regarded as the most sacred in the Royal Chapel. In the hollow interior is a smaller stupas containing sacred Buddha relics
